Exploring YouTube Headquarters

Founded in 2005, YouTube is one of the leading companies in the video-sharing space. With over a million content creators, YouTube has become a staple app on our smartphones.

On January 4th, 2019, the Pacific Society of Women in Business executive board was invited to YouTube Headquarters located in San Bruno, CA. This was made possible by Mijean Young Veloria, Pacific Alumna ‘07, SIS.

During this trip, the executive board had a tour of this location and was able to witness some remarkable spaces within YouTube HQ. YouTube HQ loves to take care of their employees by making sure all of their needs are readily available. This YouTube location has over three dining locations, which employees do not have to pay to eat at. (Neither did we as visitors!)  They have a number of coffee shops and smoothie stations for employees to use as a pick-me-up during their business hours. In addition, they have a gym, full-olympic size pool, laundry room, recording studio, designing studio, and a slide! YouTube is committed to providing their employees different resources so that they can maximize the efficiency of their work. YouTube also offers paid maternity and paternity leave! The executive board was able to see most departments within YouTube and the overall work environment was very open and spacious. Employees have many options when it comes to their work space; they can work from anywhere inside the building and even from home on occasion.

The Pacific Society of Women in Business Executive Board would like to thank Miljean Young Veloria for making this visit possible. Miljean will be speaking at Pacific on February, 8th, 2019. For more information on that event please see here.
